Festivals, showcases, markets, pitching forums, workshops and award ceremonies are an essential part of the audiovisual ecosystem.
They generate encounters, opportunities and cultural value, but also involve flows of people and materials, energy consumption, event setups, hospitality, catering and communication. In 2026, EcoMuvi extends its methodology to this field with a Standard dedicated to film and audiovisual promotional events.
The aim is to apply to events the same principle that guides EcoMuvi’s work with productions: sustainability must be planned, implemented, documented and verified. The process therefore begins before the event opens to the public, with an assessment of its organization, the definition of a sustainability policy and the appointment of internal representatives. It continues during the event through the monitoring of actions and collection of evidence, and concludes with data analysis, reporting and independent verification.
The Standard takes an integrated approach to the main areas of impact: event setups, logistics and mobility; energy and materials; hospitality and catering; accessibility and inclusion; waste management; communication; data quality and emissions calculation. This approach moves beyond a list of isolated good practices and helps build a stronger organizational system, edition after edition.
The EcoMuvi Manager supports the organizing body in applying the Standard, managing evidence and preparing the final report. Independent verification is carried out by Italcert, a conformity assessment body accredited by Accredia. This ensures that the actions reported are part of a transparent, traceable and credible process.
This new area of work does not expect events to be perfect from their first year. Instead, it requires them to establish a measurable baseline, identify priorities and improve over time. This is where certification becomes a management tool: not a symbolic achievement, but a pathway capable of turning commitments into concrete and lasting action.
