EcoMuvi presents its 2023-2025 Impact Report: audiovisual sustainability becomes measurable, certifiable and strategic

Established in 2013 as the first standard specifically dedicated to the sustainability of audiovisual productions, EcoMuvi reached a major milestone in 2023 by obtaining ACCREDIA accreditation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17020:2012, becoming the only accredited European standard for the certification of sustainable development in the audiovisual sector.

The figures for the three-year period demonstrate the impact generated:

• 73 projects supported and certified;
• 978 production days assessed;
• 2,288 professionals involved;
• 6,647 minutes of certified audiovisual content produced;
• productions with budgets ranging from €20,000 to €20 million.

Alongside these quantitative figures, the report highlights tangible environmental, social and economic results.

From an economic perspective, the adoption of sustainable processes has enabled productions to reduce waste, optimise resources and improve their competitiveness in their relationships with broadcasters, platforms, institutions and investors.

From an environmental perspective, certified productions have, among other measures, used more than 102,000 kWh of electricity supplied through direct connections to the power grid instead of diesel generators, covered more than 2.5 million kilometres by train and avoided the use of more than 1.4 million single-use plastic bottles.

From a social perspective, EcoMuvi has helped train and raise awareness among thousands of professionals across the audiovisual supply chain, while promoting the inclusion of junior professionals and the development of new skills. A total of 8,089 meals were also recovered and donated, demonstrating how sustainability can generate tangible value for local communities.

In 2025, the standard took another significant step forward, expanding from 90 to 123 indicators and strengthening its ability to measure environmental, social and economic impacts throughout the entire production cycle.

The Impact Report is not merely an account of the results achieved, but also a vision for the future.

For the 2026–2028 period, EcoMuvi aims to strengthen its dialogue with the Italian National Standards Body, UNI; promote the integration of sustainability into credit and financing mechanisms for the audiovisual industry; support the development of the new international association ASPA; and extend the application of its model to additional creative sectors.

Because sustainability does not mean doing less. It means producing better, generating value and building a more resilient, competitive and responsible audiovisual industry.
