Giffoni Film Festival launches a structured pathway towards certifiable sustainability with EcoMuvi

For the 2026 edition of the Giffoni Film Festival, dedicated to “Impossible Things”, EcoMuvi supported the Festival as its Lead Sustainability Partner. This marks the first structured application of the EcoMuvi Events Standard within Giffoni and the launch of a pathway designed to become increasingly comprehensive and established in future editions.

The work developed across two complementary areas. On a technical level, EcoMuvi supported the organization in setting objectives, coordinating internal representatives and monitoring activities related to logistics, event setups, mobility, hospitality, catering, materials, accessibility and waste management. During the Festival, the EcoMuvi Manager oversaw the implementation of these actions and the collection of supporting evidence on site, in preparation for the subsequent phases of analysis, reporting and independent verification.

On a cultural and systemic level, the partnership brought sustainability into spaces for dialogue with the industry, institutions and professional communities. The aim is not only to reduce the operational impacts of a complex event, but also to harness Giffoni’s ability to engage younger generations and make the transformations shaping the audiovisual sector easier to understand.

The theme of this year’s edition has a particularly strong connection with this work. “Impossible Things” invites young people to reflect on uncertainty, identity, artificial intelligence, polarization and the future. Sustainability, too, can sometimes seem like an overly ambitious or abstract goal. Translating it into observable choices, measurable data and shared responsibilities means turning the “impossible” into a concrete process, built step by step.

The 2026 partnership builds on a relationship that began with the previous edition, when EcoMuvi took part in the Festival, including through the recording of a podcast. Its new role as Lead Sustainability Partner therefore marks a further step forward: from participation and dialogue to the development of a multi-year working framework.
